Maison Sereine

A fragrance you read slowly.

A perfume house whose website behaves like its scent: it arrives gradually, stays close, and is in no hurry to leave.

The brief

Nobody can smell a screen. The usual answer is a model and a bottle. I wanted the page itself to do what the perfume does: unfold in stages, and reward the person who stays.

The idea

Every letter of the name comes into focus on its own. The notes aren’t a list but a passage of time you scroll through, from the first cold minute to the warmth of the evening.

And because a house like this sells something personal, the most important moment on the page is a text field: type a name, and watch it appear in gold on the glass.

What makes it work

  1. 01

    Type that arrives

Each letter of the title resolves from a blur at its own pace, set in a high-contrast didone.

  2. 02

    A pyramid in time

Top, heart and base notes are pinned and turned over as you scroll, with a thread that fills as the hours pass.

  3. 03

    Live engraving

Type up to twelve letters and see them gilded on the front of the flacon, as you type.

  4. 04

    The ritual, sideways

A gallery that moves horizontally while you scroll down, one quiet object at a time.
